New Town Hall: COVID-19 Vaccine Safety & Efficacy Information for Clinical Audiences
As a leading voice for providers and an advocate for strengthening public health throughout Tennessee, VHAN has been working daily to support VHAN members through the COVID-19 pandemic. As we near a more hopeful stage—the vaccination phase—VHAN is continuing to provide educational resources and opportunities for our member organizations and their patients on the COVID-19 vaccines.
Join us for a virtual town hall on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 12 p.m. CST when Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) coronavirus vaccine research experts will share the latest safety and efficacy data on the COVID-19 vaccines. Panelists are:
- Buddy Creech, MD, MPH – Director, Vanderbilt Vaccine Research Program; Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Pediatric Infectious Diseases
- Bryan Harris, MD – VUMC Co-Medical Director for Medicine Patient Care Center; Assistant Professor of Medicine, Infectious Diseases
- Todd Rice, MD, MSCI – VUMC Vice President for Clinical Trial Innovation and Operations; Associate Professor of Medicine, Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care
- Tom Talbot, MD, MPH – VUMC Chief Hospital Epidemiologist; Professor of Medicine, Infectious Diseases
The panel will share key data points from the vaccine trials and provide further insight into the important role providers play in this vaccination phase. The town hall will also include information about cutting edge COVID-19 treatments and best practices for lowering the mortality rate as providers across the country continue to treat these patients in record numbers. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists at the end of the event.
Our panelists have lived in VUMC’s COVID-19 response center since March, making treatment decisions and writing policies, guidelines and recommendations that have been shared with VHAN members. Now they are at the front of our discussions on how VUMC will administer the vaccine and manage its workforce, providing key insights into how other organizations can distribute the vaccine safely and equitably.
