Tools to Address Cancer Screening Rates at Your Practice
Studies show that cancer screenings have declined since the pandemic disrupted health care in 2020, and they haven’t yet returned to pre-pandemic levels. Unfortunately, this will cause fewer cases of cancer and other serious illnesses to be caught early, likely creating sicker patients in the long run. VHAN has tools and resources available to help members increase cancer screening rates and educate patients about their importance. VHAN members can visit VHAN Hub to find the following:
- Cancer Screening Quick Reference Guide. This guide reviews why screenings are important, strategies for optimizing preventive cancer screening engagement, cancer screening guidelines, next steps and more.
- Colorectal Cancer Screening Shared Decision-Making Tool. This guide allows providers and patients to review appropriate colorectal cancer screening options together.
- Wellness Checklists for Men and Women. These patient hand-outs give patients a quick view into the cancer screenings they should consider at every stage of life. They are also available in Arabic and Spanish in the VHAN Hub Resource Library.
