The Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network (VHAN) looked back on its past and ahead to its future in a recent member webinar. “Transforming Health Care Together: VHAN’s 2024 Impact & Future Vision,” featured Cindy Powell, MD, VHAN Executive Director and Chief Medical Officer, along with other VHAN leadership.
Over the past 11 years, VHAN has created $204 million in shared savings for VHAN health plans, resulting in $77 million in shared savings and quality bonuses delivered to members. This achievement is a direct result of our network members’ shared commitment to providing high-quality, low-cost patient care.
VHAN recently received Cigna CAC performance results for PY21, and we are happy to announce that the network performed remarkably well compared to market and national rates across key measures. According to representatives from Cigna CAC, VHAN’s efforts to identify and list actions for preventive care initiatives and improvements, along with quality measure reports, patient outreach and best practice-sharing contributed to the favorable results. This year VHAN will distribute $17.7 million in shared savings and performance bonuses from Health Plans, Aetna, Aetna MA, United Healthcare and Humana contracts, thanks to our members’ outstanding performance in 2021.
The 2020 MSSP ACO program results are in, and VHAN is excited to report that our Connected Care ACOs had a remarkable year.
For the second year in a row, VHAN achieved 100% performance for all Aetna contracted quality measure targets during the 2019 performance year. VHAN’s performance actually exceeded Aetna’s national standards in several measures.

VHAN has announced a $7.5 million shared savings distribution that will be paid to provider members in late 2019. These incentives were achieved thanks to the diligent work of network providers, who have now driven savings for the fifth consecutive year.
